Corporate Services Technical Associate/Handyman,
(Service Labour Agreement only)
Introduction:
The British Embassy in Ukraine is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for one Technical Associate/Handyman based in Kyiv.
The main purpose of the Technical Associate (TA) is to maintain the physical integrity of the estate at all times. This involves ensuring a safe and secure working environment and residential accommodation for staff and visitors to the Embassy. The TA is member of the maintenance works team and actively participates in the maintenance of the physical condition of the entire estate to a high standard, whilst working as part of team. TA should ensure personal understanding of FCO Health & Safety Policy and apply across estate and all works undertaken.
The role includes but not limited to:
- maintenance and replacement of plumbing and bathroom equipment.
- repairs and installation of electrical equipment and wiring, including but not limited to white goods, ACs and other ventilation, fire alarms, other domestic systems and equipment used in offices and residential properties (fridges, freezers, dishwasher, washing machine etc);
- seasonal and emergency servicing of heating equipment.
- furniture inventory and repairs, assemblance/dismantling and deliveries of furniture;
- simple construction repair works (plastering, painting);
- Raise awareness of any changes in the city municipal infrastructure and hierarchy and updating contact data base; in case of any emergency, in particular in relation to the systems of heating, electricity and water supply, take every step necessary for the eliminating the said emergency situation by contacting representatives of the relevant emergency services and/or utility companies, including the local emergency services and dispatch centres.
- Preparing reports as requested (PowerPoint, Excel);
- Managing driving and logistics around Kyiv city when visiting properties, buying spare parts and transporting goods; conduct related market researches for spare parts and other goods in accordance with embassy policy;
- Cleaning and sorting waste after repair works.
- Perform other duties when needed.

The successful candidate should share the FCDO core values (Managing a Quality Services, Delivering at Pace, Demonstrating Resilience, and Delivering Value for money) and match the following requirements:
- have relevant education: Mechanical or Mechanical engineering (degree in gas or electrics would be an advantage);
- have relevant working experience in maintenance or installation of systems, machinery and equipment used in offices and residential properties;
- have a good command of English for communicating with customers in the property and responding verbally and/or in writing to standard maintenance requests and emergencies;
- be able to perform simple electrical, mechanical and plumbing jobs (servicing and repairs)
- possess a valid driving license «B» category (driving license «D1» category would be an advantage), a valid driver’s medical certificate, and have a clear accident record with a min 5 years driving experience;
- be IT literate — MS Office/Excel, PP/presentations, Internet (mail, searches);
- Customer oriented mind-set and proofs of demonstrated customer oriented behaviour
- Be an effective team player, disciplined and proactive, self-driven and ready to learn.
