PSYCHOLOGIST
COUNTRY: Ukraine
REPORTS TO: Health Project Supervisor
LOCATION: Dnipro
GENERAL MISSION
The psychologist will be part of the Mental Health and Psychosocial support (MHPSS) response, under the Health team of HI. HI implements MHPSS activities at community level for displaced, potential returnees and community representatives (including helpers) and addressing the most acute needs of the vulnerable conflict-affected population in Ukraine through the delivery of an inclusive, timely and multi-sectorial humanitarian assistance.
Core activities include individual MHPSS sessions, group MHPSS awareness sessions, psychoeducation and information sessions, training (e.g. PFA).
MISSIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Identification and assessment of needs:
- Conduct/participate in MHPSS needs assessments consistent with HI MHPSS SOP, IASC and WHO MHPSS Needs Assessment guidelines;
- Support in the identification of the communities and MHPSS needs and make recommendations for the provision of appropriate support activities in priority locations;
- In collaboration with other HI internal departments, participates in the referrals' pathway of affecter population both internally and externally;
- Continue to monitor referred cases status to the protection team of HI.
2. MHPSS activities:
- Organize, prepare and facilitate all MHPSS activities and be sure they are adapted to specific needs and abilities of each beneficiary, group and respect MHPSS SoP and standards;
- Conduct individual counselling sessions;
- Animate MHPSS group activities;
- Organize and conduct trainings in MHPSS
3. Capacity building and activities' improvement:
- Attend the relevant trainings/courses proposed to gain better knowledge and understanding in relation to current role (safeguarding, how to provide services, etc.);
- Attend weekly individual and group supervision leaded by HI MHPSS team
- Participate in Program meetings and share relevant inputs (general program meeting, general site meeting, Health/MHPSS team meeting).
- Work closely with MHPSS team members as PSS workers, MHPSS Technical officers and specialist
- Collaborate with Rehabilitation team to implement a comprehensive approach
4. Monitoring and reporting:
- Collects and archives data on MHPSS activities using specific tools (e.g. SurveyCTO)
- Conduct pre and post tests
- Update database for individual sessions on a weekly basis
- Update database for groups sessions and trainings in link with PSS workers on a weekly basis
- Prepare, write narrative reporting on activities and share a constructive analysis of them in a timely manner
5. Contribution to HI’s technical impact (within their area of expertise):
- Contribute to the impact of HI expertise: may represent HI’s technical expertise in MHPSS within relevant local networks and support the coordination of MHPSS services with affected communities;
- Provides support in identifying appropriate capacities and entry points at sectoral, cross-sectoral, national and local levels (humanitarian coordination mechanisms, government/state actors, civil society actors, etc.) to facilitate reliable, useful and supportive strategies, programs and data analysis in MHPSS.
6. Contribute to other activities as requested by the Health Project Manager or Health Project Supervisor
PROFILE SOUGHT
Qualification (s):
- Bachelor degree and/or master degree in psychology (Clinical preferred)
Experience:
- At least one year experience working with NGOs;
- General MHPSS experience from 3 years;
- Important assured experience in individual counselling
- Experience in group activities' animation and training
- Experience of working in emergency and crisis contexts in multidisciplinary team;
- Experience with people with disabilities;
- One year of experience in a similar role will be given priority
Skills:
- Knowledge of vulnerability, disability and intersectionality of needs;
- Ability to establish community relationship;
- Strong humanitarian commitment, sense of responsibility and respect for the confidentiality of beneficiaries data;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure;
- Maintain emotional stability when dealing with human suffering, emergencies, and other stressors;
- Excellent reporting skills (written and oral communication);
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Language knowledge: Ukrainian and Russian
- Experience in disability rights advocacy
- Experience with database and surveyCTO
- English is always a plus

The tasks and responsibilities of the Psychologist described in this job description are not exhaustive and may change according to the needs of the project.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Contract: Employment contract (according to Ukrainian legislation) Fixed-Term
Type of employment: Full-time
